Xavi Wants To Get Barcelona Back To Their Style In EL Clasico
Barcelona manager Xavi is looking for a dominant performance from his team in tomorrow’s El Clásico.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Xavi stated that regardless of the outcome, the result will not be definitive as there is still a long way to go in the season. However, he emphasized that winning this match would be a big blow for Real Madrid.
Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final but were criticized for their style of play. Xavi hopes to see a more dominant performance from his team, similar to their performance in the Spanish Super Cup final.
Xavi provided the expectations he has for his team, ”Our goal is to dominate the game, something we’ve practically always done except for the last game at the Bernabeu. Our goal is to be more like the version of the Super Cup final”.
This is the second El Clásico of the three that will be played in quick succession. The first clash was the away leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Barcelona won it 0-1 with a solid defensive performance. The second match tomorrow can virtually finish off the La Liga title race. The third and final clash of the season will be played on April 6th and will be the second and final leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final clash.
El Clásico match is crucial for both teams, and Xavi’s comments indicate that Barcelona is looking to make a statement and take control of the title race. It remains to be seen if Barcelona can deliver the performance that Xavi is hoping for and come out on top over their fierce rivals.
