Andrew Dillon is the chief executive officer elect of the Australian Football League (AFL).

A man with a background in law, Andrew Dillon, has become the new CEO of the Australian Football League. His connection with the AFL goes back to 2000, when he joined them as a legal counsel.

Since then, up to now, Dillon has won the trust of those close to him. He was the hand-pick choice of the outgoing CEO Gillon McLachlan, bringing an end to a 12-month search for a CEO.

It is to be seen whether Dillon can successfully replace McLachlan and create the same atmosphere with players, including the likes of Nick Daicos and Darcy Moore.

Andrew Dillon’s wife, Amanda Dillon, was present at the press conference as he was announced the CEO of AFL.

Amanda, with her husband and their three daughters, Lucy, Pippa, and Chloe, stepped out into the Marvel Stadium with Andrew holding a rugby ball.

Amanda is the daughter of former Australian test cricketer Paul Sheehan, who played 31 test matches and three ODIs for his country.

All of his three daughters, Chloe, Lucy, and Pippa, are in either high school or university. One of his daughters, Chole, is available on Instagram with the username @chloepdillon but has her handle in private mode.

Andrew Dillon, age 52, began his career as a football player and today finds himself as the CEO of AFL.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, Andrew earned his degree in commerce and law from the University of Melbourne. He later earned his post-graduate diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

As a footballer, Andrew played 290 games for the Old Xaverians and was only one of four players to play in six consecutive championships.

During the early and mid-90s, Andrew worked at the law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth and, from there, moved to Village Roadshow Limited as an in-house legal counsel.

After joining AFL in 2000, Andrew quickly rose through the ranks, and by the time it was 2004, he was appointed as the general manager of AFL.

In 2011, Andrew took up the position of general manager of national and international development, and two years later, he was the legal, integrity, and complaints general manager.

Andrew was working as an executive general manager before the role of CEO was handed over to him. His father is the former president of the VAFA and the former chairman of the Melbourne Racing Club.

So, one thing is certain that football runs in the Dillon family.
