Arsenal Agree Terms With Ajax Defender Jurrien Timber

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms with Ajax defender Jurrien Timber ahead of a potential summer transfer.

The Gunners have been linked with strengthening the defence this summer, with Timber capable of playing both centrally and as a right-back.

According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, the club have now agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old, who has a ‘verbal agreement’ on a five-year deal worth €8 million-a-year that would take him to 2028.

Arsenal are yet to agree terms with Ajax, though are said to be in ‘full discussion’ with the Eredivisie outfit as they look to negotiate an agreeable fee.

Timber was strongly linked with following Erik ten Hag to Manchester United last summer, but ultimately decided to stay in Amsterdam after Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal suggested a move could hamper his World Cup chances.

United eventually moved on to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax instead, beating Arsenal to the Argentine’s signature, while the Red Devils have once again been linked with a move for Timber this summer.

However, a move for a centre-back is thought to be well down United’s list of priorities and likely to depend on potential outgoings, with Ten Hag currently prioritising the signing a striker, midfielder and potentially a goalkeeper.
