Arsenal And Aston Villa Interested In Signing Barcelona Winger

As Barcelona look to ramp up their exit operations in the coming weeks, Ferran Torres looks like one of the players who could be allowed to depart in the summer. And, according to talkSPORT, Arsenal and Aston Villa are interested in signing the misfiring forward.

Torres arrived at Barcelona in the January transfer window last year, signing for a fee of €55 million with another €10 million in add-ons. However, he has failed to live up to the expectations that came along with the big investment.

There have been glimpses of his quality, but Torres has not been nearly consistent enough during his time at Spotify Camp Nou. In 29 La Liga matches this term, the 23-year-old has scored just four goals.

With Barcelona looking to raise capital and reduce their wage bill, they are open to selling Ferran Torres. Earlier reports had suggested that Atletico Madrid were interested in the Spaniard, along with some Premier League clubs.

Now, it is being suggested that Arsenal and Aston Villa are the teams from England who are tracking Torres ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old Barcelona ace and wants to add him to his roster at the Emirates Stadium.

As for Aston Villa, they are set to appoint Mateu Alemany as their new sporting director when he leaves Barcelona on June 30. And it seems that his imminent appointment has led to links with some Barça players to reinforce the squad.

Only yesterday, Andreas Christensen was reported to be a target for Unai Emery’s side and now Torres has also seemingly popped up on their radars.

Given that the Blaugrana need to make room for new arrivals, Torres’ exit can be beneficial, but only if they receive a big offer as a large part of his transfer fee has not been amortised yet. So, it will be interesting to see if either Arsenal or Villa are willing to shell out the big bucks.
