AS Roma On The Ladder To Sign Scamacca And Sanches From West Ham United

  • Roam Stepping Up Effort To Sign Scamacca And Sanches.

Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto is ready to roll up his sleeves and complete a double swoop for West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca and Paris Saint-Germain’s Renato Sanches.

As per Calciomercato, the Giallorossi chief executive has identified the unwanted duo as attainable targets and will be looking to speed things up this week.

Pinto’s idea is to bring both players on loan with an option to buy.

Strapped for cash, Roma must carefully manage their funds this summer, and Pinto has no intention of splashing out high figures on other sides’ fringe players.

Scamacca’s move to West Ham has been a disappointment, to say the least, with the 24-year-old striker already seeking a way out of the London Stadium.

While Inter Milan were said to be close to overtaking the Giallorossi in the race for the former Sassuolo frontman, the player’s desire to return to the Stadio Olimpico could make the difference.

He has already handed Roma a boost, refusing a transfer to AC Milan to proclaim his love for his boyhood club amid Jose Mourinho’s search for a new centre-forward.

Despite seeing their initial bid for Scamacca turned down by West Ham, the Italians are still banking on his wish to join Mourinho’s fleet a year after leaving his home country.

Roma are willing to offer €4 million for a season-long loan with a mandatory buyout clause set at €22m based on the player’s performances and the club’s achievements in Serie A.

As for Sanches, his career at PSG is nearing an unsatisfying end after new manager Luis Enrique cast him off immediately after taking over the reins from Christophe Galtier.

Like Scamacca, the Portuguese midfielder experienced an underwhelming first season in Paris and has already been told to find a new destination after failing to live up to expectations.

Convincing PSG to sanction Sanches’ temporary leave shouldn’t be difficult, especially considering Roma have a friendly relationship with the reigning Ligue 1 holders.

They signed Georginio Wijnaldum on a similar deal last summer.
