Barcelona Defender Could Continue At Tottenham For One More Year, Other Clubs Also Interested

With Barcelona needing to generate some serious cashflow to get out of their Financial Fair Play issues, player sales will be key in the summer.

The plan is for the Blaugrana to raise at least €100 million through sales, with five first-team players earmarked as possible departees.

However, the La Liga leaders could also bank on some of their loanees to help achieve that target. One such player who is said to be generating interest heading into the summer is Clement Lenglet.

Indeed, according to Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo, Lenglet, who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, is attracting interest from several clubs heading into the summer transfer window.

As per the report, Lenglet is understood to have the option of continuing at Tottenham for one more year on loan, but with interest from several teams, the Frenchman is expected to sit down with Barcelona at the end of the season and assess all his options.

Lenglet left for Tottenham last summer and has been a regular in the side for the north London outfit, playing 30 matches in all competitions in which he has one goal and two assists.

Earlier reports had indicated that the Premier League club were already in talks with Barcelona over a permanent deal for the Frenchman. But that does not appear to be the case.

Lenglet’s contract with the Blaugrana runs until the summer of 2026. The former Sevilla ace has no place in Xavi’s plans and the club would likely look to offload him permanently to generate some revenue.

However, at the same time, the option of him continuing at Tottenham on loan for another year seems to be a possibility as well. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Lenglet beyond the ongoing campaign.
