Barcelona In Pole Position To Sign €17.5 Million-Rated Real Madrid And AC Milan Target
According to the latest reports from SPORT, Barcelona are growing very optimistic about their chances of signing Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler following Deco’s visit to Istanbul on Thursday.
Guler is one of the most in-demand players in the market this summer, with several top clubs, including Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, and Italian giants AC Milan still very much in the picture for his signing.
However, as per the report, Barça might have gained advantage over the other suitors after Deco personally flew to Turkey to hold talks with Fenerbahce over a possible transfer.
The Blaugrana club president Joan Laporta confirmed the trip and the talks for Guler, while also adding that the deal would be for the 18-year-old to arrive in 2024, which makes sense given their financial situation.
“Yesterday [Thursday] Deco was in Istanbul. La Liga allows us to make operations for next season without impacting on Fair Play. Arda Guler is a very talented player and we are trying to close the deal,”
Further conversations have taken place between all parties involved in recent hours which has convinced Barcelona that they are in a position to land the 18-year-old Guler.
Fenerbahce would be on board with the idea of Guler staying at the club for one more year before moving to Spain.
As for the player, it had been suggested in the past that he would like to leave Turkey right away. But he wants to be on a team where he can play regularly.
As such, Guler would consider staying back at Fenerbahce for another season and continuing his development before making the big move to Barcelona.
Now, as things stand, the final details of the deal remain to be polished and finalised, with Deco close to achieving his first big target since coming as Barcelona’s new director.
The same has been reported by the reliable Toni Juanmarti as well, who states that optimism within the Barcelona camp is growing optimistic about their chances and that the La Liga champions are moving fastly to close the signing.
