Barcelona Lodge Enquiry For Former Real Madrid Starlet Takefusa Kubo

Takefusa Kubo has always been a topic in both Barcelona and Real Madrid camps. The young Japanese had started his career at the Barça youth academy before eventually joining the Real Madrid ranks.

But after failing to succeed at either clubs, he appears to be doing quite well at Real Sociedad. The winger had joined the club during the summer transfer window, for a fee of €6.5 million and the outlay is totally paying off for Sociedad.

In 18 league matches, Kubo has been involved in eight goals. His contributions in the final third have been critical in helping La Real remain in third position, ahead of Atletico Madrid.

Naturally, Kubo’s performances have not gone unnoticed. According to AS (h/t FCB World), Kubo’s former club FC Barcelona have enquired about the player through his agent. It seems they have been alerted by the Japanese international’s performances and might want to fancy him in the coming summer.

Luring Kubo back to Catalonia, though, will be a complicated affair. For one, Real Madrid still hold 50% rights of the youngster, which means Real Sociedad will demand even more money, in an attempt to make a profit.

In addition, Los Blancos have a buyback option, which will enable them to sign the player on a cut-price deal.

Not to mention, Real Sociedad have already appeared quite strict with Barcelona in the pursuit of their top target Martin Zubimendi, who will cost a whopping €60 million in the coming summer.

Similarly, Takefusa Kubo could end up costing a fortune and Barcelona might be better advised to pursue other alternatives, including Kubo’s compatriot Daichi Kamada.

The playmaker, who plies his trade at Eintracht Frankfurt, has been linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer and could represent a far more logical investment.
