Barcelona Midfielder Could Return Against Girona, Three Stars To Be Back By Atletico Clash

Barcelona fell to a disheartening 0-4 defeat to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final last night and injuries to their key players can be counted as one of the main reasons behind their fate.

Indeed, Barça were without Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Ousmane Dembele and Andreas Christensen for the contest against their eternal rivals. And their absence was felt on the night at Camp Nou.

With the ambitions of a domestic treble over, Barcelona will now need to focus on their La Liga title pursuit and make sure that there are no slip-ups in the next few weeks.

The return of the aforementioned quartet will be key for the Blaugrana as they look to reach the finish line in the Spanish top flight without any hiccups.

To that end, Javi Miguel of AS has provided updates on the situation of the four injured players and their potential return dates.

As per the report, De Jong is expected to be back in time for Monday night’s La Liga Catalan derby against Girona, even though earlier reports suggested that he could only be available for the match against Getafe next weekend.

Meanwhile, Javi Miguel writes that the trio of Pedri, Dembele, and Christensen, will, at maximum, return in time for the La Liga encounter against Atletico Madrid on April 23.

Given the injury histories of Pedri and Dembele, it is important that Barcelona do not take any risks with their recovery and allow them to recover at their pace completely before bringing the pair back into the fold.
