Barcelona On The Cusp Of Signing Key Target In €45 Million Deal, Final Details Remain

Vitor Roque’s long-awaited transfer to FC Barcelona is on the cusp of completion. The Brazilian has been linked with the club since the start of the year but can finally look forward to the move materializing as a few minor details are left to be sorted out.

At the summit held at the Ciutat Esportiva over the weekend, which was presided over by Alexandre Mattos, CEO of Athletico Paranaense, and Deco, the future Barça football director, an agreement in principle was achieved. It is possible that the following stage could be the final one, and may occur within the next few hours.

According to SPORT, the deal signed with Athletico Paranaense to obtain Roque has Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s approval.

Having returned from his trip to Qatar, the club supremo awaits the sporting area’s consent, which is expected to be handed considering Xavi and the coaching staff heavily advocated for the signing.

When the presidential ‘OK’ is in place, the final details will be ironed out with André Cury, the player’s agent, and Mattos.

Any more negotiations regarding the price tag are not foreseen to take place, with Athletico Paranaense and Barça agreeing to a transfer fee of €35 million, plus €10 million in variables based on performance objectives, divided into three fiscal years.

When it comes to personal terms for the player, there are also little obstacles standing in the way. Roque has pushed for a move to the Catalan giants and agreed to a salary that complied with the club’s delicate finances.

All parties appear willing to conclude the saga as soon as possible. Once the deal is made official, the Blaugrana will then have to divert their attention to exit operations, which are necessary for the player to be registered.

To create wiggle room in the salary margin, players that are not in the coaching plans for next season will have to certainly be moved on.

Roque remains a top priority for Barcelona so it is expected that the club are confident in their ability to eventually register him, despite ongoing financial strains.
