Barcelona Reach €7 Million Contract Agreement With Brozovic, Player Has Rejected AL Nassr
Money cannot replicate the allure of playing for a prestigious crest. There may be those who prefer the filling coffers, but it is clear that playing at the highest level for historically great clubs will never go out of fashion.
Marcelo Brozovic was put in a similar dilemma earlier this week. The Croatian international had a lucrative offer on the table from Al Nassr that he was considering signing until Barcelona arrived on the scene.
The Catalans have been in close contact with the midfielder’s entourage ever since and hope to make him the successor to the legendary Sergio Busquets on the field. With the arrival of the Spanish side, the Inter Milan star has also done his part to keep the offer from Asia on hold.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Brozovic wants to join Barcelona. He has reached an agreement for a multi-year contract with an initial salary of €7 million that will rise deeper into his tenure.
Xavi’s personal intervention and conversations have had a big role to play in his decision, and the midfielder is now ready to sign for the Catalans. In fact, the report adds that he has given the club a six-day deadline to organise the finances and present Inter Milan with an offer.
Reports from Giacomo Iacobellis further indicate that a delegation from Al Nassr travelled to meet with Brozovic to try and change his mind yesterday. However, they were not successful in their efforts, and some sources state that the player gave them a definitive ‘no.’
The offices in Catalonia are busy burning the midnight oil to file a satisfactory offer to Inter Milan. The sale of Franck Kessie is seen as a necessity to reactive the mission to sign Brozovic, and talks are currently in progress with Saudi Arabia-based side Al Ahli.
