Barcelona Working Towards Finalising The Renewal Details Of Lamine Yamal

Barcelona are currently in negotiations with young prodigy Lamine Yamal over a new contract. As mentioned before, the process is going very well and if a recent report from Diario SPORT is to be believed, the team is currently finalizing the details of the contract.

Yamal, 15, is arguably one of the top La Masia talents at the moment and there is absolutely no way the Barça board will let him go away. The young forward turns 16 in July and he will be able to sign a professional contract with the team then.

For the moment, Barcelona are already negotiating with his agent, Jorge Mendes, who happens to share a great working relationship with club president Joan Laporta.

Interestingly enough, Yamal recently changed his representation after previously working with Ivan de la Pena, who has as many other Barcelona players under his clientele, namely, Eric Garcia and Gavi.

Barcelona, for their part, are currently working on the details of the contract that will be presented to him when he turns 16. Laporta’s good relationship with Mendes will be a key factor in this deal.

Meanwhile, apart from these off-field developments, the 15-year-old is also making big strides on the field as he has been a regular fixture in the first-team training under Xavi.

Eventually, Yamal became the youngest player in the history of the club to be named in the first-team squad for a La Liga game when Barcelona took on Atletico Madrid.

Speaking about the kind of impact he can make, manager Xavi had said, “He is a player who can help us and has great talent. He is young, with character, and is strong in 1v1s. He’s a player who can shape an era with the team.”

At this stage, Barcelona want to shield the 15-year-old prodigy at all costs amid interest from other European clubs and are doing everything in their power to assure his continuity.

And if everything pans out well, he can follow in the footsteps of Pedri and Gavi and have an early breakthrough in the senior team.
