On November 12, 2015, Jones signed up for the Radford Basketball team but delayed his first year.

He was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Year and honorable mention All-Big South after averaging 11.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game as a redshirt freshman for the Highlanders.

Jones could transfer to another school for his last season of athletic eligibility without having to sit out a year because he was scheduled to graduate from Radford at the end of the 2019–20 academic year. Rather than returning to Radford, he elected to become a graduate transfer.

He transferred to the University of Louisville for the remainder of his college career and eligibility, playing 19 games overall.

On April 26, he then issued a different declaration, stating that he would sign with a representative and forego using the extra year of eligibility at Louisville.

Jones signed up for the NBA Summer League with the Dallas Mavericks after being undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft.

He signed the deal with the Mavericks on August 21, 2021. Nevertheless, he was released on October 15.
