Chelsea Risk Losing Mason Mount For Free If Man United Talks Collapse

Mason Mount has one year left on his current contract at Chelsea, so he will likely leave on a free transfer next summer if talks with Manchester United collapse.

The 24-year-old is unwilling to sign a new deal at Chelsea, and reports state he is already agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

United have had an initial £40m bid reject but it is believed an improved offer worth £50m will be submitted soon.

However, as things stand, Chelsea are looking for £70m for Mount.

According to the Evening Standard, United do not want talks to turn into a summer-long saga, having already walked away from the signing of Harry Kane for similar reasons.

United know that if they cannot reach an agreement with Chelsea this summer, they will be able to sign Mount on a free transfer in 12 months.

Furthermore, does Mauricio Pochettino want to risk keeping an unhappy player, who has already made it clear that he wants to join United ahead of next season.

United will face competition for Mount’s signature next summer, although it bodes well that he has agreed personal terms this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mount in the past.
