Chelsea Youngster Omari Join Ipswich On A Season-Long Loan

  • Chelsea Youngster Omari Hutchinson Joins Ipswich Town On Loan.

Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson on a season-long loan transfer.

The exciting 19-year-old winger joined Chelsea from local neighbours and fierce rivals Arsenal on a free transfer last summer.

Hutchinson proved an instant success for the Chelsea under-21s, contributing seven goals and eight assists in 21 Premier League 2 appearances as the Blues finished third in the youth division.

The youngster also scored once and provided two assists in four EFL Trophy appearances last season.

The former Arsenal man had a taste of top-flight football last term, making his debut for the Chelsea first team in a Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

His second first-team appearance for the West Londoners also came against Man City in the FA Cup third round.

Hutchinson will spend the upcoming season at Portman Road, which represents his first senior loan stint away from Stamford Bridge.

He also becomes Town’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Jack Taylor, Cieran Slicker and George Hirst.

“I’m really excited to join the Club at such an exciting time,” Hutchinson said during his first interview as a Town player.

“I have met with the Manager face-to-face and really enjoyed hearing what he had to say, so I’m looking forward to playing in his team.

“I like bringing smiles to people’s faces, and hopefully I can do that here. To play in front of 30,000 people will be crazy, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Town Manager, Kieran McKenna, said: “We’re delighted to have Omari with us because he is a young player with real potential who has shown a real desire to come here for his first senior loan.

“So we think he is a good fit for us, and we can be a good match for each other. We have to remember he is very young, but he is a player we are excited to have join the group.”
