An American by nationality, Alvarez comes from Puerto Rican and Irish ancestry- his mother is of Irish descent.

Thanks to his father, he got on the path to an MMA career as a professional.

As reported, when Eddie was 8, his father Louis trained him in the fundamentals of mixed martial arts at Front Street Gym.

About his father, the MMA fighter (nicknamed “The Underground King”) said:

I lived in a fictional world growing up with my father because it was impossible for me to lose. If I did lose, he would make very good excuses [as to] why I lost. In a way, he was making excuses for my losses, but he was just bringing me back into the realm that I was unbeatable.

After Alvarez graduated from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, his parents moved to Florida, leaving him and his brother to fend for themselves in Kensington.

Alvarez Now Has A Family Of His Own

Aside from being an MMA fighter in the ring, Alvarez has been a fighter off-ring; he went through financial hardship to a prosperous happy family of five.

In 2008, Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Jamie LeAnn Alvarez, after 10 years of dating. According to an Instagram post, the two have been in a relationship since 1998.

By the age of 20, he was already a father to Eddie Alvarez Jr. (b. 2005), but got married a few years later.

Together with Jamie, Eddie Alvarez became father of three more children: Aniston, Anthony & Alister, totaling four.

As reported, before Alvarez went professional, he would do concrete work and occasionally fought to make the month’s end.

Without any amateur fights, he made his professional debut on December 14, 2003, against Anthony Ladonna in Ring of Combat 5 and won via KO.

And throughout all these years, his wife, Jamie, has been a significant source of support for him.

She has often accompanied him to his fights, and Alvarez has spoken about how her presence gives him a sense of calm and reassurance before he steps into the cage.

Despite his busy schedule as a professional fighter, Alvarez has made it a priority to spend time with his family and be involved in their lives.

Siblings: Does Eddie Alvarez Have A Brother Or Sister?

Eddie’s brother Albert is the youngest of four siblings- he has two elder brothers and an elder sister.

Like his brother, Albert also pursued a career in mixed martial arts but later opted for another. He had a machine-operating job at Kraft Foods while training for the fights.

No denying that Eddie Alvarez, his MMA fighter brother, was his inspiration & mentor.

Their grandfather Alberto had been an elite amateur boxer back in San Juan, Puerto Rico. So, the fast hands in the genes of the Alvarez family come as no surprise.

Eddie has often spoken about the bond that he shares with his brother, and it is clear that Albert is a source of strength and inspiration for him both inside and outside of the cage.

Overall, while there may not be much information available about Albert’s own career as a mixed martial artist, it is clear that he has played an important role in supporting and encouraging his older brother in his pursuit of excellence in the sport.
