Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Could Return As Bayern Munich CEO On An Interim Basis

SportBild reports that Karl-Heinz Rummenigge could return to his old role as CEO at Bayern Munich on an interim basis with the future of Oliver Kahn in doubt.

Kahn had previously received a warning from club president Herbert Hainer and Uli Hoeneß due to his leadership style and lack of empathy for those around him and with the current situation at Bayern he could likely be removed from his role as CEO.

Rummenigge would likely come in on an interim basis if Kahn would be dismissed. It is a role that Rummenigge is tempted by as it means he could potentially help is former club.

The 67-year-old was CEO from 2002 to 2021 when he was replaced by Kahn. Rummenigge is currently a board member at UEFA and on the advisory management board at the DFB.

Kahn has been involved in the key decision that have put Bayern in this position in recent weeks. The former goalkeeper along with Hasan Salihamidžić were influential in sacking Julian Nagelsmann and replacing him with Thomas Tuchel.
