LaLiga Again Denounces Racist Insults Against Vinícius – This Time At Camp Nou

For the eighth time so far this season, LaLiga has been forced to file complaints for episodes of racism in stadiums against the Madrid player. This time at the Camp Nou Spotify during last weekend’s Clásico.

It’s a never-ending story in the current 2022-2023 LaLiga season. Vinícius (22) plays away from the Santiago Bernabéu, and fans use racism to attack him, despite the campaigns that are carried out to raise awareness of this issue. These included the “Week against Racism”, in which the players from both teams in the Clásico posed together under the slogan ‘Unity’ in order to try to eradicate these attitudes.

There have now been eight (out of 14 games Real Madrid have played away from home this season in domestic competition) times that the employers have been forced to go to the relevant authorities because of the racist insults that the player often suffers.

The latest chapter was seen at the Spotify Camp Nou last Sunday, when Barcelona beat Los Blancos 2-1 to keep the league title in their pocket. In that game, Vinícius didn’t have any clashes with any of the Barça players (quite the opposite, as it was clear that he has a very good relationship with Araújo, the main man in charge of defending him), but this didn’t prevent him from being the subject of some vile comments from fans.

This is not the first time that this has happened to the Brazilian player in the Barcelona stadium. In October 2021, LaLiga reported another incident, although there was no punishment because, apparently, they could not identify him despite the fact that he was clearly recorded by the cameras.

This is the statement issued by LaLiga on Thursday:

“In view of the events that took place in the FC Barcelona-Real Madrid match, in which once again intolerable racist behaviour was observed against Vinicius Jr, LaLiga has reported racist insults to the Barcelona Magistrates’ Courts.

This is the eighth complaint filed by LaLiga with the relevant authorities for racist insults against Vinicius Jr.

In addition, in order to speed up this identification, LaLiga has set up a complaints channel at the following link on the website www.laliga.com so that fans who may have information or an indication of the identity of those responsible can contact LaLiga and provide the necessary identification to file the relevant complaints.

We remind you that through [email protected], and the Telegram channel @StopRacismoLaLiga, any fan can contact LaLiga to denounce or report any racist behaviour”.
