Levi Colwill Earns His First England Call-Up Ahead Of Their Upcoming Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has joined the England national team ahead of their 2024 European Championship qualifying matches against Malta and North Macedonia, according to The Secret Scout.

The Three Lions aim to book their place at the tournament next year in Germany. They already top Group C and could make their lead more emphatic with wins in their next games.

Colwill spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and impressed during his spell there.

The 20-year-old made 15 Premier League appearances and helped his side keep three clean sheets. He assisted two goals.

Also, the centre-back impressed in cup competitions when manager Roberto De Zerbi allowed him to showcase his talents.

Colwill is calm and composed at the back. He has a cool head to read the game. His six-foot-two-inch frame and massive body make him an imposing physical presence in duels.

Colwill had already impressed during his first loan spell away from Chelsea. He helped Huddersfield Town reach the promotion play-offs in the 2021/22 season.

Brighton first tried to sign Colwill when Chelsea pushed for Marc Cucurella, but the Blues refused. They agreed on a season-long loan.

However, they still want him and have made a £30 million offer to sign him permanently after his loan spell. Chelsea rejected the bid.

The Londoners see Colwill as part of their future and will resist any offers from the Seagulls.

Chelsea will try to extend his deal which runs out in 2025. They must show him that he won’t be another squad member in Chelsea’s bloated team.

The young defender sahould fancy his chances of establishing himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s team ahead of next season, especially with Benoit Badiashile out for the foreseeable future with an injury.

Also, the Blues are looking to sell Kalidou Koulibaly after a disappointing campaign. The Senegalese defender is on massive wages.

The path is clear for Colwill to establish himself at Chelsea and the national team and have a long and successful career.
