Man United’s Interest In André Onana Yet To Be Confirmed In Italy
While reports in England seem fairly confident that Manchester United are interested in signing Inter goalkeeper André Onana but the Italian media is yet to confirm that.
The Athletic today reported that United could make an offer for the Cameroon international and the club’s interest was also echoed by other English outlets. But Sky Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that they can’t confirm the club’s interest in the goalkeeper – yet.
While Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio was recently in London to speak to Chelsea about a host of transfers – one of them included Onana, no progress was made and the Italian is already back in Milan.
A price tag of about €40 million has been spoken about but it doesn’t seem as if Chelsea have offered something.
Having said that, Inter now need money. That is because they have an agreement in principle with Sassuolo for Davide Frattesi, who has agreed to join the club.
But to close the move, Inter need money from a sale and that is why Onana is the likeliest to leave right now.
Denzel Dumfries, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport, was liked by English clubs in the past but no one has come forward for him.
No progress has been made when it comes to Marcelo Brozovic’s situation either, leaving Onana as a prime suspect to depart. While it remains unknown why Italian outlets can’t confirm United’s interest in Onana, it could come soon.
