Manchester United Keeping Tab On Paris Saint-Germain Star Neymar

Manchester United have been linked with an audacious move to sign Neymar, with the Red Devils reportedly ‘keeping an eye’ on the forward’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar has been linked with an exit from PSG as the club look to remove his salary from their wage bill, with the forward having struggled with fitness issues during much of his time with the Ligue 1 side.

The 31-year-old began the current season in scintillating form but saw his campaign curtailed due to an ankle injury sustained in February. He has not started more than 22 league fixtures in a season since signing for PSG in a £198m world-record deal in 2017.

PSG accept that there are few suitors capable of affording a deal for Neymar, with the Premier League appearing his likeliest avenue for an exit. Chelsea are long-term admirers of the Brazilian, while Foot Mercato are reporting that Manchester United are keeping tabs on his situation.

However, it appears unlikely the Red Devils would make a formal approach for Neymar, despite his status as one of world football’s top talents and marketability.

The forward’s age and injury record are all complicating factors, while it remains to be seen how much money is made available to Erik ten Hag this summer after a club-record £229m spend last summer.

United are currently subject of takeover approaches, but even new investment would make a deal difficult. The Red Devils are understood to want to restructure their wage bill to avoid major discrepancies within the dressing room, while clubs are still required to meet UEFA’s new financial stability regulations.
