Manchester United ‘Ready To Rival Arsenal’ For Declan Rice
Manchester United are ‘ready to rival Arsenal’ in the race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.
Arsenal are viewed as frontrunners to sign the England international and have seen two bids turned down for Rice this week, the second of which was worth around £90m with add-ons included.
The Gunners are set to return with an improved third offer for the midfielder, but could face competition from Manchester United who the Telegraph report are preparing to enter the race.
The takeover saga at Manchester United has impacted Erik ten Hag’s transfer plans, but the Red Devils are reportedly preparing a player-plus-cash offer to tempt West Ham.
United are willing to offer Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire to the London side as part of a package to sign Rice, with West Ham having expressed interest in signing the former this summer.
David Moyes is also a ‘huge admirer’ of Maguire, who has been informed he can leave United after falling out of favour last season.
West Ham value Rice at around £100m and had been keen on a cash only deal, with Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Leicester winger Harvey Barnes named as potential transfer targets with the funds from Rice’s expected sale.
