Mauricio Pochettino ‘Relaxed’ On Lukaku Situation

Mauricio Pochettino insists he is relaxed on Romelu Lukaku’s situation at Chelsea as the forward seeks an exit from the club.

Lukaku is currently training away from the first-team squad as the forward looks to leave Chelsea, having returned to west London from a loan spell at Inter Milan.

Inter withdrew from a permanent deal for Lukaku after learning the 30-year-old had also been in negotiations with rivals Juventus, who have struggled to find an agreement on a fee with Chelsea despite negotiations between the clubs.

The Turin side had proposed a swap-deal involving Dusan Vlahovic heading to Chelsea, but the Blues have refused the offer.

Lukaku has also turned down interest from Saudi Pro League sides and remains a Chelsea player with just over a week of the transfer window remaining.

It is understood that Lukaku has not spoken to Pochettino regarding his future, having made clear his desire for a departure, but the Chelsea boss remains ‘relaxed’ about the situation despite days remaining of the transfer period.

“The situation hasn’t changed. In football all can happen, we will see in the future but for now nothing has changed,” Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Luton.

“The situation was clear when we arrived, a wish between the club and player to find a solution. At the moment, we are relaxed.”
