Olivier Giroud Says Milan Have ‘More Desire Than Ever To Win’

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has said that the Rossoneri have got more desire than ever before to win a game as they gear up for the EuroDerby on Wednesday night.

Speaking during an interview with Milan TV (via Milan News), the French striker spoke passionately about the importance of beating Inter in the Champions League semi-final.

It is the first time since 2003 that the two Milan sides have met at this stage of the Champions League and for almost everyone on the pitch, it will be the most important game of their careers so far.

“There will be a crazy atmosphere at the stadium, the fans for a Champions League semi-final will be, as always, a lot. There will be a bit more pressure of course because it’s a very important game. It’s an even higher level than usual. There is more desire than ever to win.” Giroud explained.

Giroud is one of the players who has been in this position before in his career so he offered some insight as to what it is like: “In the semi-final you play at 110%, you have to give everything on the pitch. The most important thing is to play with your heart and have no regrets.”

On his good scoring record against Inter, Giroud spoke about how special it is to score in a Derby della Madonnina.

“I scored three goals in three league games, for me it is always a special emotion to score in the derby. Especially for the Champions League, I think we all want to play a great game. I’m very focused on what we all have to do together. I hope to score again, also because it’s been a while since I’ve scored at San Siro,” he said.

Finally, Giroud discussed his emotions coming into the EuroDerby: “Winning the Scudetto in my first year, I couldn’t hope for better. Now in my second year, I know how important the Champions League is for this club, Milan have won it seven times, but also for the fans. Then there is even more pressure, motivation and determination to play the best game possible.”
