Orlando Pirates legend sends message to Elias Mokwana

  • Former Orlando Pirates winger sends message to Bafana star.

Orlando Pirates legend, Tlou Segogela, has been watching Elias Mokwana at Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana.

According to Segolela, Mokwana has the winning style and attacking ability, what he hopes for the player is consistency.

“He is a very fantastic player and very direct, a very tricky player. You never know if he is coming in or out,” Segolela told FARPost.

“We hope he also keeps the same level of focus. For him to reach this kind of performance, the chances that he can secure a move abroad are very high. He must just be humble. He has worked hard for this, and it’s his chance.

“We are very happy that even coach Hugo Broos also saw that. There are so many things that can distract him and I just hope that he continues to focus on his game. With proper guidance, he will definitely reach the highest level.”

The 27-year-old winger was signed from Marumo Gallants in July 2023. Unfortunately for Otladisa, the Rustenburg-born star has only made nine appearances for Orlando Pirates with zero goals and assists.

“With his first season at Pirates to be quite honest with you, it’s just that people don’t know, Katlego will get his chance. Even when we went and signed the contract, Pirates management told us, ‘Look, we are signing Katlego Otladisa but not to play for this season’,” his agent Nimrod Mbhalati told FARPost.

“Not that is an excuse, had he maybe impressed the coach, maybe he would be playing. And I believe he’s one for the future.

“Remember, he’s on a long-term contract with Orlando Pirates. So, he will get his chance, and he will play. It’s not even affecting him because he knows the truth,” Mbhalati added.

“I’m getting calls left, right and centre from his fans, family and everyone asking ‘why is he not playing?’ I tell them not to panic because his chance is going to come because me, him and the club know what’s really happening,” the Orlando Pirates stars’ agent concluded.

Some transfer reports can’t surprise us at all. Orlando Pirates are reportedly planning to send out Azola Matrose on loan. In what appears to be early plans for next season, it is believed that a player like Azola Matrose is set to make way with a return to his former club Chippa United.

According to the Citizen, the 21-year-old winger Matrose is set to leave Orlando Pirates after failing to make a senior debut. The Gqeberha-born star joined the Sea Robbers from the Chilli Boys after three goals and one assist in 30 games.

“Talks have already started between Chippa and [Orlando] Pirates. He is happy to go back to Chippa because he was a regular player there. He (Matrose) knows that if he performs well at Chippa, he’ll be recalled anytime, even during the January transfer period,” a source told the publication.
