Real Madrid Believe In Karim Benzema, Will Not Sign Kylian Mbappe In The Summer

The Real Madrid management seems to have made up its mind regarding the current state of the roster, with a report from MARCA (h/t Madrid Xtra) confirming that the team will not sign a high-profile forward this summer as they believe Karim Benzema still has one season left in the tank.

Madrid were given a harsh reality check by Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg clash at the Etihad Stadium. The Cityzens dominated all parts of the field and Madrid’s attack seemed unnoticeable at its very best.

Despite that, however, the management is of the idea that the team can survive another season without any attacking reinforcement. Furthermore, even Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that doubting Benzema is unfair.

“There’s no point in doubting Benzema. He had a bad game, but not only him. And he’s still a legend at this club. The team wasn’t right on Wednesday, not just Karim,” said the manager ahead of the Valencia game.

The manager also pressed the team is not really worried about not having a new striker for the next season, saying that everyone at the club is currently evaluating the situation.

“We have to wait a bit, we are talking about it with the club, but it is not the time. We are evaluating what has happened. It is not the right place to talk about what is happening,” he added.

We have reported before that even if Madrid think of signing a striker this summer, there are no potential suitors.

One might argue that Kylian Mbappe is worth the effort but it should be noted that if Paris Saint-Germain lose Lionel Messi and Neymar in the summer, there is absolutely no way that the French team would let Mbappe leave too.

Furthermore, as far as Erling Haaland is concerned, there is a certain clause in his contract that will only be activated in the summer of 2024 and this is why the team continues to point to 2024 to sign a superstar in attack.

In all fairness, all of this makes perfect sense as a panic buy won’t do any good for the parties involved.
