Real Madrid No Longer Interested In €60 Million-Rated Chelsea Attacker

Real Madrid have been in and out of the race to sign Chelsea’s Kai Havertz over the past few weeks. The youngster was surprisingly one of the names suggested as a replacement for Karim Benzema, and the equation never seemed to add up, considering he is far from a striker.

According to reports from the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Los Blancos are now out of the race for the versatile forward. He does look close to leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, but the Bernabeu will certainly not be his new home.

The 24-year-old’s tenure at Chelsea has been far from the dream he expected. Three years have elapsed since he signed for the London-based side, and he is yet to find his free-flowing best in the final third.

In his three seasons in the Premier League so far, he has scored just four, eight, and seven goals respectively. Considering that he is a regular starter for the Blues, his contributions come across as underwhelming.

The youngster would be a good fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s system. However, a combination of factors have understandably steered the club away from his name.

For starters, Chelsea demanded a fee of €60 million plus bonuses for the youngster. Real Madrid’s administration did not match the valuation of the English side.

Secondly, Arsenal have emerged as a strong suitor for Havertz and would be willing to spend heavily on his signing, which has acted as another deterrent for Los Blancos.

The opening of the doors to sign Kylian Mbappe appears to have been the final nail in discarding Havertz as an option. After all, the Merengues must spend at least €200 million for his signing, and with Bellingham’s deal already reflecting as a big expense, bringing in the Chelsea star would not be sustainable.
