Real Madrid to offer new contract to Carlo Ancelotti amid Brazil agreement

Real Madrid are ready to offer Carlo Ancelotti a new contract to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite an initial agreement being in place to take charge of Brazil at the end of the season.

Ancelotti has less than a year left on his current deal and sources have confirmed a preliminary agreement is in place for him to take charge of the Selecao once he leaves the Spanish capital.

Though a deal with Brazil is all but in place, Madrid themselves have not ruled out the possibility of Ancelotti staying at the club and signing a new contract.

Madrid’s hierarchy have been considering their options and have explored alternatives to Ancelotti in the event that he does leave. These have included former playing legends – current Castilla boss Raul and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso – while Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi has also been checked on.

Sources have now confirmed that Madrid’s current playing staff have made it clear to the club president Florentino Perez and the board that they would like Ancelotti to stay on.

The club are fully aware that Ancelotti has great admiration among the squad and he has particularly good relationships with their prized young assets such as Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Aurelien Tchouameni. Madrid realise an upheaval in the coaching staff could cause issues which are avoidable.

With the arrival of teen starlet Endrick and likely signings of Kylian Mbappe and Alphonso Davies in 2024, the club are aware that Ancelotti’s man-management remains arguably unrivalled in the game and they are now open to him staying on new terms. Talks have already taken place over a fresh contract but they are due to accelerate heading into 2024.
