REPORT: Atletico Madrid Could Seek €80 For Joao Felix From Barcelona

  • Atletico Could Seek €80 Million From Barcelona For Joao Felis.

Just three games into his stint at FC Barcelona, Joao Felix is already starting to establish himself as a key part of manager Xavi Hernandez’s setup.

Indeed, in just three games across all competitions, the 23-year-old, who arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid on deadline day, has scored three goals and set up one more.

The Catalans have been left surprised by how well Felix has adapted to life at the club, but at the same time, there are concerns about next summer as they do not have a permanent purchase option included in the deal.

Atletico Madrid could seek €80 million
It must be remembered that Barcelona signed Joao Felix on a season-long loan deal without any purchase option included.

Besides, the 23-year-old even signed a new contract extension until 2029 with the Rojiblancos before arriving at Barça, putting the Spanish capital club in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a permanent transfer.

And now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Atletico Madrid are likely to seek €80 million from Barcelona for the permanent departure of Joao Felix next summer.

The Blaugrana are already making calculations regarding the potential future incorporations of both Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo and have been making inquiries about what such an operation could cost them.

And, as per the report, they have learned through sources that Atletico Madrid will hold out for a fee of €80 million for the Portuguese international.

Such an amount could prove to be a challenge for Barcelona given their financial situation, even though Joan Laporta is confident that things will improve on the economic front.

What has Joao Felix said?

Having made a fine start to the season, Joao Felix, who had made it clear that he wanted to join Barcelona in the summer, intends to continue at the club beyond the summer.

But he admitted in a recent interview that a permanent move will depend on how he performs in the remainder of the season and negotiations between the two clubs, as he said:

“Well, for me it depends on how the season ends. Then it’s up to Barcelona to negotiate with Atleti and then it’s up to Atleti, if they want to facilitate things or not. But that’s business stuff, about values, which I don’t get involved in.
