Report: Barcelona Winger Not For Sale

Over the past couple of days, there have been a lot of rumours surrounding the futures of several Barcelona forwards, including Raphinha.

Given the Catalan giants’ Financial Fair Play situation, it has been reported that the club will listen to offers for him, as well as Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, and sell at least one among the three.

Furthermore, it was claimed that Barcelona are optimistic about recouping their investment in the Brazilian winger as he has plenty of demand in the Premier League.

However, now, Javi Miguel of AS is reporting that Raphinha is not for sale this summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old joined from Leeds United only last summer, with Barcelona beating competition from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal to clinch his signing.

Raphinha did not have the best of starts in La Liga and at one point was struggling to start games. But, post the World Cup break, the Brazilian winger has taken his chances, especially during the injury-enforced absence of Ousmane Dembele.

So far this term, the ex-Rennes forward has scored and assisted nine goals apiece from 39 matches across all competitions. There have been several match-winning contributions in his tally.

But, given the financial situation and his lack of consistency to a certain a degree, speculations over his future had been mounting.

But, if Javi Miguel is to be believed, Raphinha will not be put up for sale by Barcelona this summer, with the 26-year-old expected to be a part of Xavi’s plans for next season.

It could, however, mean that either Fati or Ferran will be sold. Considering that the latter was signed recently and his transfer cost is yet to be amortized, it is likely that Fati could be the one who might end up leaving this summer.
