Report: Ez Abde Wants To Stay At Barcelona Only If Has A Prominent Role

Barcelona loanee Ez Abde has been making all the right noises during his loan spell away at CA Osasuna. The 21-year-old has grown into an important player for Jagoba Arrasate’s side, helping them reach the Copa del Rey finals, while performing well in La Liga.

Naturally, Abde’s performances have not gone unnoticed by Barcelona or by several other clubs in Europe.

Reports have suggested that Barça have no plans of selling Abde in the summer transfer window unless a huge offer comes along for the winger.

However, according to a report from Alfredo Martinez on SPORT, Abde wants to stay at Barcelona only if he has a prominent role in Xavi Hernandez’s plans for the next season.

The 21-year-old has been featuring regularly at Osasuna this season, playing 27 matches in which he has scored five goals and set up two more.

Given the growth he has enjoyed through regular first-team action, it is only natural for the Moroccan international to want to continue in the same way.

For now, what is clear is that Abde will be part of the first-team setup under Xavi during the pre-season in the summer. And depending on the impression he makes on the manager, a decision on his continuity will be taken.

If he manages to convince the Barcelona boss, Abde could be given a role in the senior team. In case he does not, the Blaugrana could look to offload him.

Osasuna, for their part, are keen to have the 21-year-old on loan for another season. Meanwhile, he also has a lot of interest from clubs in the Premier League. So, there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors for Abde if he is placed on the market.

Everything will depend on how the pre-season goes for Abde and whether he manages to convince Xavi, as well as the kind of role he is offered at Barcelona.
