Report: Messi Will Not Return To His Fomer Club Team

Barcelona fans might have to brace themselves for a tough summer ahead, as the club continue to lose grip in their pursuit of Lionel Messi.

Sanctioning the return of the Argentine international has been identified as one of Barça’s priorities in the coming summer, but it appears the possibility of his return to Camp Nou is waning with each passing second.

To that end, Marcelo Bechler has said that Barcelona’s pursuit of Messi is already over. The veteran attacker will not return to Camp Nou this summer.

It must be noted that Bechler was the journalist who had broken the news of Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and revealed Messi wanted to leave the club in 2020.

He is not the only journalist to claim Barcelona’s pursuit of Messi is over. According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Inter Milan have also entered the chase to sign the Argentine this summer, with the Italian giants believing that he will not go to Barcelona.

The Champions League finalists have even proposed a formal offer to Messi, in the hope of signing him ahead of the new season.

The player, for his part, is reportedly waiting out for La Liga’s confirmation, before Barcelona can make an official proposal of their own. But he already has offers from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal ready to spend a fortune on the 35-year-old.

Merlo adds that a resolution over Messi’s future can be reached in the next few days, which is not a good omen for Barcelona, knowing the Catalans are unlikely to sanction the operation anytime soon.

The club need time to sanction all the exit and make fresh revenue before they can officially go after Messi. So it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.
