Report: Real Madrid Players Have Sent Messages To Barcelona Star Over Gavi’s Behaviour

Sunday night’s El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid at Camp Nou was a feisty affair, as Clasicos usually tend to be more often than not.

Barça came out on top in what was a clutch victory that all but confirms their La Liga title triumph if they avoid a monumental slip-up in the remaining 12 matches of the season.

Given the rivalry and what was at stake on the night, tempers flared on the pitch, with a couple of incidents standing out in particular.

One of those saw Barcelona wonderkid Gavi ram into Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos and send him to the ground during the final stages of the match after it seemed like the latter had trampled on Robert Lewandowski’s foot.

This action happened off-the-ball and went unnoticed by the referee. But, Real Madrid players were reportedly very upset by the behaviour of the 18-year-old Barcelona midfielder, calling his actions ‘unsportsmanlike’.

Now, according to Adrian Sanchez, Real Madrid players have already sent messages to some Barcelona heavyweights about Gavi’s behaviour and have allegedly asked them to have a word with the teenager about the same.

Some reports in Spain are also claiming that Los Blancos feel that referees give the Barcelona youngster a lot of leeway on the pitch.

In his short career at the highest level, Gavi has made a name for himself with his fearless and aggressive attitude. And considering the rivalry and intensity of a Clasico, things tend to get dialled up to 11.

There have been many skirmishes between the two sets of players in the past. Ceballos himself was involved in an incident with Gavi during the Spanish Super Cup, but came out without any punishment from the referee.

The two players are currently part of the Spain national team squad and it will be interesting to see how they deal with things, especially with Barcelona and Real Madrid set to face off again on April 5 in Copa del Rey.
