Tottenham Hotspur Willing To Make An Offer To Purchase Barcelona Defender

Clement Lenglet was one of many Barcelona players that left Camp Nou on loan last summer in favour of more game-time elsewhere. He joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan deal, as part of Xavi’s plan to make space in the defensive unit.

Lenglet’s departure paved the way for Barcelona to bring in the likes of Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde. And with the defender’s spell at Tottenham coming to an end in a few months, the Blaugrana are hoping that he leaves Camp Nou permanently.

To that end, SPORT has offered an update on Lenglet’s current status, suggesting there is a chance of the Frenchman definitely remaining at Tottenham Hotspur.

Although the Premier League giants do not have an option to permanently buy the player at the end of the season, the Premier League club have showcased the desire to make an offer to Barça this summer, in an attempt to secure his deal on a permanent basis.

This is because Lenglet has been overall successful during his loan spell at Spurs. He has become a first-team regular alongside Cristian Romero and has racked up over 1,600 minutes of competitive football this season.

Lenglet’s performances have seemingly convinced Spurs to consider signing him on a permanent deal at the end of the season, as coach Antonio Conte looks to build a solid base in the defensive unit ahead of the new season.

The report suggests Barcelona are ready to assume losses on Lenglet, who had arrived at the club for a fee of almost €36 million. They will consider any offers that come their way and are likely to negotiate the most favourable deal for the French international.

Clement Lenglet is not the only on-loan Barcelona player facing a possible exit, as the club are reportedly open to sanctioning an exit for Abde Ezzalzouli as well.
