VAR DISALLOWED PENALTY KICK AGIANST NIGERIA Vs GHANA

Super Eagles of Nigeria were denied a penalty after a VAR check during World Cup play-off against the Black Stars of Ghana

VAR (Video Assistant Referee) has made its first impact during Ghana’s World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria on Friday night at Baba Yara Stadium.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were awarded a penalty kick early in the second half when Baba Iddrisu touched the ball with his hands when he went on the ground.

But the decision was denied after a check by VAR showed that Kelechi Iheanacho tripped the right leg of the Real Mallorca player.

The Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed got an alert from the VAR officials, went and checked the replay, and the penalty was eventually denied.
