Joseph Howarth Ingles also known as Joe Ingles, is an Australian professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He was born on October 2, 1987, in Adelaide, Australia.

During his early years, Ingles played junior basketball for the Southern Tigers. He had also attended Springbank Secondary School.

Joe started his professional career started with the South Dragons of the National Basketball League. He signed a multi-year contract with the club on March 17, 2006, becoming the very first player to sign with the club.

He is currently playing as a power forward for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. He also represents the Australian national team. 

At the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, Ingles averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in six games. He helped his national team win the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The NBA star, Joe Ingles, married Renae Hallinan on 29 August 2015. Renae Ingles (Hallinan) is a former Australian netball international who played in 67 tests for Australia.

On July 26, 2016, the couple welcomed twin babies—a son Jacob Antony and a daughter Milla Bernadette Ingles.

Their third and youngest child is Jack Thomas Ingles, who was born on November 19, 2020.

On February 13, 2019, Joe and Renae Ingles opened up that their 2-year-old son Jacob had officially been diagnosed with autism.

After weeks, the couple went public with Jacob’s diagnosis. They received huge support from the people and were able to raise awareness of ASD (autism spectrum disorder).

When asked about his children, the player feels insufficient time for them. Playing the roles of both father and player, he experiences a difficult situation. 

In an interview, the NBA guard said the following about his family:

“the little time we have at home, spending as much quality time with my children as possible when I can. But it’s hard.”

Professional And International Career

During his professional career, Ingles has already played with six different clubs in about 15 years. 

From 2006 to 2009, he joined the South Dragons when he was just 18 years of age. In 102 games for the Dragons over three seasons, Ingles averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Similarly, he signed contracts with the Spanish clubs Granada and Barcelona in 2009 and 2010, respectively. On 24 July 2013, Ingles signed with the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Interestingly, Joe spent a comparatively longer time of about eight years in the Utah Jazz.

He earned a lot of skills and experience being in the club for so long. He became one of the key players of the club, winning numerous cups and success.

On 6 July 2022, Ingles signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. He made his Bucks debut on 19 December 2022 in a 128–119 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Representing the Australian national team, Ingles made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. He also took part in the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

At the 2012 London Olympics, he became the second-highest scorer for the Australian Bloomers after Patty Mills.

Joe Ingles had an active participation at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. His hard work and determination led the team to seal the third position as well.
