Xavi Urges Jordi Cruyff To Stay At Barcelona During The Title Celebration Parade

With the summer fast approaching, Barcelona are bracing themselves for a change, even from an executive level.

Mateu Alemany has recently announced his decision to quit on June 30, which has put the future of Jordi Cruyff into turmoil as well. Many are fearing that the Dutchman could leave the club after Alemany, potentially forcing Barça to undergo a massive executive overhaul.

However, Barcelona are not too keen on letting go of Cruyff, and none made it more clear than Xavi Hernandez.

During the title celebrations parade on Monday, the Barcelona coach publicly started chanting “Jordi Stay” on the convertible bus. Cruyff certainly was not expecting the act from Xavi and went into a state of blush.

As reported by SPORT, Cruyff has an excellent professional relationship with Xavi. Even though there has been some reported friction, particularly regarding the pursuit of Xavi Simons, the two individuals are very close, with Xavi hoping that the Dutchman will remain as part of Barcelona’s board.

Even Joan Laporta wants Cruyff to prolong his stay in Catalonia, as he has played a crucial role in Barcelona’s restructuring project. As the club brace themselves for a busy summer ahead, Cruyff’s role can only get more important.

It has recently been reported that the 49-year-old has requested some time off in order to mull over things and make a decision on his next move.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also scouring the footballing world to find a viable replacement for the departing Alemany. They have stumbled upon former midfielder Deco, who is reportedly interested in replacing Alemany as the sporting director.

However, as the agent of Raphinha, the Portuguese ace must seal the future of the former Leeds United attacker and will have to leave that role completely, before he can take on the mantle at Barcelona.
