Andreas Christensen On Inter Milan’s Radar For The Summer
While Jules Kounde’s future at Barcelona has become a subject of major discussion of late, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Mundo Deportivo) is now reporting that another Barça centre-half, Andreas Christensen, has emerged as a target for Inter Milan.
Christensen, 27, joined Barça only last summer, arriving on a free transfer after his contract with Chelsea expired. The Danish international has become a key part of Xavi Hernandez’s setup at Spotify Camp Nou, becoming an ‘untouchable’ at the club.
While Barcelona have no desire whatsoever to sell Christensen, clubs across Europe have taken note of his impressive performances this season as well as the Catalan club’s financial situation.
Several teams in the Premier League are eyeing the former Chelsea ace while teams in Italy are understood to be keeping tabs on him as well.
And, as per Di Marzio, it is Inter Milan who have the strongest interest in Christensen among the clubs in Serie A.
The Nerazzurri are set to lose mainstay Milan Skriniar this summer, with the defender poised to join PSG on a free transfer. As such, they are on then lookout for a replacement and have identified Christensen as an option.
Di Marzio adds that Barcelona do not have any thoughts of selling Christensen in the summer, but given their financial situation, if a big offer arrives they might be forced to study it.
However, it must be noted that Inter Milan themselves are not in a very healthy situation financially and are not in a position to splash the big bucks on players.
So, while they may hold an interest in Christensen, it is extremely unlikely that Barcelona will entertain any offers for him, especially with murmurs around Kounde’s future growing louder.
