“Better Late Than Never” – Javier Tebas “Satisfied” After Barcelona Set El Caso Negreira Press Conference Date

El Caso Negreira has been in the public spotlight for two months now, but Barcelona have been largely quiet on the issue, aside from a few declarations of innocence from President Joan Laporta.

The matter is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office, amid allegations of “sporting corruption” over Barcelona’s alleged relationship with Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, who was formerly the Vice President of the Referee’s Committee in Spain.

La Liga President Javier Tebas has been vocal in the media about Barcelona and Laporta’s “lack of clarity” over El Caso Negreira, but he has got his wish, with officials reports emerging that the club intend to hold a press conference on Monday morning to discuss the matter.

On the announcement, Tebas admitted his satisfaction at the news, while also stating his hope for clarify, as per Marca.

“He should have done it earlier, because it’s not an issue that needs so much time, but it is better late than never. We hope, and I wish, that on Monday, they can clarify everything.”

As well as the Prosecutor’s Office’s investigation, UEFA are also looking into Barcelona’s involvement in El Caso Negreira, although the club expect no sanctions to come their way.
