Joan Laporta To Meet UEFA President To Discuss Lionel Messi, Negreira Case And Super League

Joan Laporta has made a lot of enemies with his recent press conference, where he openly launched scathing attacks on Real Madrid and Javier Tebas. His comments even forced Real Madrid to retaliate with a video and mark the beginning of the end of the cordial relationship the two clubs had shared over the years.

Nevertheless, in the midst of foul sentiments between Laporta and others, it appears the Barcelona president is soon set to travel to London to meet Pini Zahavi, the agent of Robert Lewandowski, reports Joan Fontes.

Laporta and Fontes will meet in London to ‘close some joint issues’, perhaps in relation to the contract situation of some of the players.

Later, the two will meet Aleksander Ceferin in Slovenia. The UEFA president has spoken out quite clearly against clubs involved in the European Super League project, even comparing them to a ‘cartel’.

Unsurprisingly, Laporta will meet Ceferin to talk about ESL. But he may also discuss the Negreira scandal, especially after UEFA confirmed that they are going to hold their separate investigation over the issue.

It could be a part of Laporta’s bigger plan to douse the flames created by the Negreira scandal by talking to several high-end officials.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona president may also talk about Lionel Messi and the club’s intention to re-sign the forward in the coming summer. Although it remains unclear how exactly a conversation with Ceferin may help Barcelona, it is a possibility that Laporta may talk about Financial Fair Play regulations.

In any case, one thing is for certain – the club want to let everyone know they are serious about signing the Argentine at the end of the season.
