Leeds United are interested in signing Barcelona winger Ilias Akhomach in the summer transfer window, reports DEPREDICT.
The 18-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and the La Liga club are keen on keeping him.
However, Akhomach and his representatives are not pleased with the wages he has been offered.
Leeds are looking to swoop, with director of football Victor Orta monitoring the teenager’s situation.
AC Milan are also interested in Akhomach. However, they have not guaranteed him regular first-team football, while Leeds have.
The Elland Road club will need to hold on to their Premier League status to have a chance of luring the youngster to west Yorkshire.
They are currently 19th in the table after 23 games, and are without a permanent manager.
Nevertheless, Leeds have a realistic chance of escaping the drop, with only two points between them and safety.
They have made the recruitment of teenagers a key part of their policy in recent seasons.
The Whites snapped up Wilfried Gnoto last summer and the 19-year-old has impressed.
The Italian is not the only youngster playing regularly for the Peacocks, and that could attract Akhomach.
The Spanish forward has played just three games for Barcelona first-team, with all of them coming last term.
He has remained permanently with Barcelona B this season and played 20 games for the Spanish third-tier club.
Akhomach has started just 13 of those, and it is believed his contract situation has limited his opportunities with Xavi’s side.
He could be on his way out of Catalonia in the coming months, but Leeds will not be the only club pursuing his services.
