Serge Gnabry has been placed on Liverpool’s radar as efforts to find a suitable replacement for the wantaway Sadio Mane intensify
Liverpool have made contact with Serge Gnabry as they continue to look for Sadio Mane’s replacement. Mane has expressed his desire to leave the club after a trophy-laden six years.
Both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have only one year remaining on their current deals and talks over a possible extension have stalled. Mane wants to leave while Salah wants his wages revised or he walks.
Sportbible now reports that Liverpool have identified Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry as a possible and a perfect replacement for the Senegal forward. Gnabry also has one year left on his contract with the Bundesliga giants.
Gnabry is an explosive winger, known for his pace, dribbling skills, cutting inside the defence and ferocious strikes. He fits the description of a player who would excite Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
But the catch, according to Anfield Central, is that the 26-year-old is demanding 250,000 euros per week to join the Reds. Another issue is the high valuation that Bayern have placed on the German star of 70 million euros.
But given his contract situation, Bayern will be forced to renegotiate their standing or risk losing him for free next summer. Liverpool, going by their past transfer businesses, won’t be willing to fork out that huge amount of money.
The other option would be a straight swap between Mane and Gnabry but neither club has brought up this offer yet.
