Man United Target David Raya Rejects Two Brentford Contract Offers

Spain international David Raya has revealed he has rejected two contract offers from Brentford.

The 27-year-old has been earning rave reviews with his displays in the Premier League this season.

He has made over 140 senior appearances for the Bees since joining them in 2019 from Blackburn Rovers.

The talented goalkeeper has been a key member of Thomas Frank’s side who are now looking to secure European football this term.

Raya has started all 21 league matches so far this campaign, with eight clean sheets to his name. However, his current contract at the club is set to run out in June 2024.

The Spaniard revealed he was offered a new deal last year and again in January. He turned down the two offers but insisted he is ‘really happy’ at the club.

He said (as per BBC Sport): “I don’t think it’s the right time to sign a contract at the moment.

“I’m really, really happy and right now I’m just thinking about doing the best for the team and trying to push for Europe.”

He further added: “I was offered a new contract last year and one in January but we didn’t reach an agreement.

“For now a new contract is secondary, the most important thing is the team and the games. We’ll see where we are in May.

“You never know what’s around the corner. There’s nothing I can say about what’s going to happen in the summer. I don’t even know what’s going to happen on Saturday.”

Boost for Manchester United

Depredict reported last month that Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing Raya.

David de Gea is currently their number one goalkeeper but his contract at Old Trafford will run out in the summer.

If he leaves the Red Devils, then Raya would be an excellent replacement for him.

The 27-year-old said he is happy at Brentford but at the same time he has rejected two contract offers.

It appears he wants to move to another club in the summer, which is a very good news for United fans.

Raya is highly rated for his long passing and shot stopping ability. He is also very composed when in possession of the ball and boasts a superb technical ability.

The Spain international would be an excelling signing for United but they face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
