Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa are about to sign Boubacar Kamara ahead of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on the social networking site that Villa are closing in on the signing of departing Marseille defensive midfielder Kamara.
Romano has reported that a deal between the 22-year-old and Villa is “verbally almost agreed”.
The Northern Echo reported in March that Newcastle had held talks over signing the Frenchman on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
The youngster has already said that he will leave Marseille this summer, and it seems that he is on his way to Villa to work with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
In our opinion, signing Boubacar Kamara ahead of Newcastle United is a coup for Aston Villa and a blow for the Magpies.
The 22-year-old is one of the best young defensive midfielders in Europe, and it is his choice and decision to move to Villa, not Newcastle.
That says a lot.
That Villa have reportedly been able to convince Kamara to move to Villa Park shows that they mean business in the summer transfer window.
