Official: La Liga Have Removed Gavi As A Barcelona First-Team Player On Their Official Website

After the 10th Barcelona Commercial Court dismissed Barcelona’s appeal against overturning Gavi’s new contract registration, La Liga is no longer listing the 18-year-old as a first-team player on its official website.

Gavi had signed a new contract with Barça last September, but it was not registered at the time due to Financial Fair Play issues.

The Catalans managed to get the registration done on the deadline day of the January transfer window, albeit by obtaining a precautionary measure from a court.

But La Liga had launched an appeal against the teenager’s registration and it was eventually overturned as it was deemed that the Catalans had missed the deadline for the filing of the paperwork.

Barcelona appealed against the decision but the same was dismissed by the court earlier this week, meaning that Gavi has now reverted to his youth team contract that was in place before he had signed a new deal last year.

The club plan to appeal the decision again with the Barcelona Provincial Court, but for now, Gavi is no longer listed as a first-team player on La Liga’s official website.

Indeed, under the midfield section of the Barcelona squad page on La Liga’s website, Gavi no longer appears, with Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Ferran Torres, Franck Kessie, Frenkie de Jong, Pablo Torre and Marc Casado the only ones listed.

This would also mean that Gavi will likely have to stop wearing the #6 shirt that he had taken after his registration was completed in January and move back to the #30 jersey he wore before then.

Registering Gavi’s new contract in the summer will also not be easy as the Catalans will first need to create enough room on their wage bill to go ahead with it.
