AC Milan Showing Interest In Barcelona Defender, Want To Sign Him Fro Free

After a few years of struggle at Barcelona, Samuel Umtiti moved to Italy last summer, joining Lecce on a season-long loan to get his career back on track.

And, things have worked out rather well for the Frenchman as he has become a regular fixture in the backline for the Serie A minnows, putting in some solid displays to help them to important results.

With Umtiti slowly turning things around for himself in Italy, his situation has seemingly aroused the interest of some clubs.

AC Milan are one of the clubs to have taken note of Umtiti’s turnaround at Lecce and are considering signing him once his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri are said to be closely following the situation of Umtiti but want him to resolve his contractual situation at Barcelona before committing to any move.

As per the report, the reigning champions of Italy are hoping that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner terminates his contract with the Blaugrana so that they can sign him for free in the summer window.

However, in case Lecce or some other clubs push to sign him, Milan would be willing to make a bid.

It is too early to say what the future might hold in store for Umtiti next season. There have been speculations of another year on loan at Lecce, while some reports have suggested that Barça see him as an option to have a left-footed centre-back in the squad.

Having had a steady run in the side of late, Umtiti recently picked up a hamstring injury and is currently ruled out of action. The 29-year-old will be hoping to make a quick recovery and get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
