Report: Pablo Torre Does Not Want To Leave Barcelona In The Summer

According to Alfredo Martinez on SPORT, young midfielder Pablo Torre does not want to leave FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window in search of regular playing minutes.

Signed from Racing Santander in the summer of last year, Torre arrived as one of the most talented young attacking midfielders in Spain and was drafted into the first-team plans right away.

However, given the competition for places in midfield, the teenager has found it hard to get into Xavi Hernandez’s lineup on a regular basis.

Indeed, Torre, who will turn 20 years old next week, has played just seven times across all competitions for the Blaugrana this term, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.

While playing for Barça Atletic would have been an option, the youngster had initially been reluctant to that idea, although he has since turned up three times for Rafa Marquez’s side.

As things stand, Torre has Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Franck Kessie ahead of him in the pecking order. With Ilkay Gundogan likely to arrive in the summer and Nico Gonzalez also returning from his loan spell at Valencia, the competition for places will only increase.

Hence, there had been talk of Torre being sent out on loan to a first-division team next season so that he can play regularly and gain vital experience.

But, as per the report, Torre does not want to leave Barcelona in search of playing minutes elsewhere.

The 19-year-old is reportedly very happy with how he has progressed in his first year at the club. It is further added that Torre believes that it is better for him to stay and continue learning at Barça as he would grow more by doing that.

A decision on his future will likely be made in the near future and it remains to be seen whether the youngster stays put or is sent out on loan.
