Barcelona And Real Madrid Target Priced At €30m By RB Leipzig Among Contract Standoff

As per reports from Sky Germany (h/t Mundo Deportivo), RB Leipzig will look to sell Barcelona and Real Madrid target Dani Olmo for €30 million if they are unable to reach a contract agreement with the Spaniard.

Olmo, a former trainee at Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth setup, has been at Leipzig for more than three years now. However, the versatile attacking midfielder will enter the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit this summer.

RB Leipzig have been intent on handing Olmo a new contract to keep him at the club for a long time. However, the former Dinamo Zagreb starlet is understood to be keen on a return to Spain in the summer.

As a result, contract talks have not progressed according to plans. Leipzig are said to be planning to table one final proposal with a substantial improvement in salary.

But if the 24-year-old rejects it, the Bundesliga club will offload him in the summer and have set an asking price of €30 million.

Barcelona have been tracking Olmo for quite some time now and have been interested in his services. The Spaniard himself is believed to be open to the possibility of returning to Catalonia after having left the club in 2014.

Barça officials, including manager Xavi Hernandez, were said to have met with Olmo’s entourage during the World Cup. At the time, the Catalans had reportedly requested the 24-year-old to not sign an extension at Leipzig, so that they can sign him for free in 2024.

But with the Spaniard likely to be available for a reasonable sum of €30 million this summer, provided he does not sign a new contract, it will certainly be interesting to see if the Blaugrana decide to make a move.

However, Barcelona would have to face competition from arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are also interested in Olmo. At the same time, clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also said to be keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.
