Barcelona Intend To Secure The Signing Of €25m Ilkay Gundogan After Champions League Final

Barcelona are intent on ensuring that they secure the services of Manchester City midfielder and captain Ilkay Gundogan without fail.

Furthermore, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that the La Liga champions intend to make an official announcement of the German international’s signing soon after the UEFA Champions League final.

Gundogan is one of the top targets for the summer for Barcelona, with manager Xavi Hernandez eyeing an interior midfielder to add more quality and depth to his roster.

The 32-year-old has shown this season that he still has plenty left to offer at the highest level, constantly chipping in with crucial goals for Pep Guardiola’s side. In 50 games this term, he has netted 11 goals and set up seven more.

Throw in his leadership and availability on a free transfer, and it is not hard to figure out why Barça are intent on his signing.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona and Gundogan already have an agreement over a three-year contract worth €27 million.

So, despite the late entry of PSG as suitors for the former Borussia Dortmund ace, the Blaugrana are confident of his signing. And the plan, as of now, is to officially announce Gundogan’s signing after the Champions League final.

Manchester City take on Inter Milan in the finals of Europe’s premier footballing tournament tomorrow night in Istanbul.

Once that is out of the way, Barcelona intend to finalise the agreement with Gundogan and make an official announcement of his capture.

After the UCL final, the veteran midfielder will be flying off to the German national team camp as Die Mannschaft prepare to play friendly encounters against Ukraine, Poland, and Colombia.

It now remains to be seen whether Barcelona are able to close the signing before that or wait until after Gundogan’s national team commitments before completing his capture.
