Romelu Lukaku Set To Leave Inter And Return To Chelsea In The Summer

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will leave the club in the summer and return to Chelsea from his ongoing loan stint at the Nerazzurri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Inter are already planning their future without Lukaku and they have no intention of negotiating another loan deal, having not been impressed by the money they spent to bring him back from Stamford Bridge.

Inter are now keen on making sure that they sign a younger player who offers the potential to grow and earns less than Lukaku. The decision has been made and only an extraordinary turnaround in the campaign could change Inter’s mind, with the player also not said to be fully happy at the club.

When it comes to replacements for the Belgian, an enquiry has already been made for Roberto Firmino, who is leaving Liverpool in the summer. Two Spanish clubs are also interested in him and he will soon decide his next destination.

Another name is that of Marcus Thuram but Inter do not believe that they have made enough progress in that regard, with Mateo Retegui said to be in pole position to replace Lukaku. His price is affordable, especially considering how much has been spent on Lukaku.

Lens’ Lois Openda is another name that Inter are keeping tabs on and he could be someone that the Nerazzurri go after, especially since Steven Zhang is looking to change the face of the club’s attack in the summer.
